South Carolina Native Plant Society
Chapters

The South Carolina Native Plant Society currently has five chapters:

Lowcountry Chapter - based in Charleston. The Lowcountry Chapter meets monthly in Charleston September through May (except December) on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held in 101 Duckett Hall, Biology Auditorium on The Citadel campus. Free parking is available along the west and south sides of Summerall field directly across the street from Duckett and Bond Hall. There is also free parking after 5pm in faculty lots directly behind Bond Hall. For more information view a campus map at

Midlands Chapter - based in Columbia. The Midlands Chapter holds two official meetings per year in conjunction with an outing to a special park or preserve in the area. This Chapter is currently a small, field trip focused chapter and typically plans trips to exciting midlands destinations almost every month in the spring and on a less frequent basis over the course of the summer and fall. The Chapter is also involved in several interesting and fun native plant activities including plant rescues/restorations, habitat gardening projects, participation in local nature-related festivals, rare plant monitoring, and rocky shoals spiderlily restoration. This Chapter is at the crossroads of the state and encompasses three of the six Ecoregions found in South Carolina. As it grows, the number of activities, projects, meetings, and overall benefit to our native plant communities, and thus the quality of life of midlands residents, is increasing.

Piedmont Chapter - based in Rock Hill. The Piedmont Chapter meets in Rock Hill at the Museum of York County at 7:00 pm on the third Tuesday of the Month from September to December, January to March, and May. Annual plant sales are scheduled for April. Other activities include field trips.

South Coast Chapter - Our newest chapter established in 2008 and based in the Beaufort and Hilton Head areas.

Upstate Chapter - based in Central and Greenville. The Upstate Chapter holds meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. alternately in Central and Greenville. Central meetings are held in Founder's Hall in the Dining Commons at Southern Wesleyan University in Central. In Greenville, meetings are held at McAlister Square (University Center), 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive in Multipurpose Room #2. Facing McAlister Square, use the Greenville Technical College entrance at the far right side of the mall near Publix. Visitors are always welcome!
